does anyone know (stupid already) how i would go about starting my own independent record label?
and how i could copy-write my songs?

I got a book called "Start and run your own record label" by a woman named Dayle schwartz

also the US copyright site is pretty useful - has good explanations.

Go to the bank and get a DBA, buy a UPC, call the copyright office and have them send you the forms.

Type in copyright, UPC, DBA, in the forum search box and sit down for a while and read.
