Record bass

Hi,

my first posting here and I´ll probably get kicked out and thown in the closest river for asking this but I´d like to know if its possible to record bass for a song with my guitar. I mean, is there some effect och plugin or anything that I can use to make my guitar sound like a bass?

Anything you use will still sound like a guitar. Buy a bass, rent one, or borrow one. Don't cheat. It will show....

i dont know fred if this will interest you but if your a songwriter like me,
band in a box can be highly usefull for building a back up band in your pc including bass parts that are automatically generated. just try the demo.
ive heard some very realistic bass parts done by some biab pro's.
i was sceptical untill i tried it. a nice effect is to play real bass along with it.
plus you can add vocals and guitar live to the back up band in software.
if you want a cheap bass to play i think i saw some at zzounds.
