No war or beef here dethska, lol. Just opinions. Cobra made a good point. So many people are caught up in either Sabian and Zildjian, people forgot to mention the line-up Paiste has. Again, IMO, I am not a Paiste fan, but I have heard their Signature series sound awesome. Again, depends on who you talk too. Since this is a drum forum... what is everyone jamming on? Unfortunately, I still have my Mapex V-Series Standard that I'm looking to switch. I'm looking at a fusion kit from either Sonor, Yamaha, Pearl, or Tama within their mid-price range ($500-$800). Suggestions?

I prefer older vintage drum kits. I currently have an old Rogers kit. 10x14 rack, 16x16 and 16x18 floors and a 14x24 kick with a couple of different snares. a Ludwig acralite (5x14 8-lug aluminim shell) and an old Pearl from about 1968. It's 5 1/2x14 wooden shell with 10 lugs. It has a very nice warm ring to it. It sounds great for a shuffle beat. I want to eventually get Gretsch kit of the same set up, but with a 14x26 kick! that would be cool. Most guys I know have a 4 piece set up which consists of a snare, 9x13 rack, 16x16 floor and 14x22 kick. I like that set up as well. I like at least a 22" kick. My friend uses a Gretsch kit with the same set up as I do but with a 9x13 in place of the 10x14. It all depends on what you like and what kind of music you're playing. I'd like to have a 8x12, 16x16, 14x22 combo for playing mellow stuff or country music.
I like Jazz size drums.
Cymbles I have are 15" New beat high hats, 19" A medium crash, 19" A custom crash 21" Sweet ride and an old 20" medium ride. I'm thinking of a 18" china to ad to the mix and maybe a splash. I've got the big thick Cowbell too. Gotta love the cowbell.
I like Gretsch drums now days. The maple ones sound great.

Your opinion. You're right, I forgot they do sell packs of A customs and they are great cymbles. But they are a little thin and I don't think he wants to break anymore of them.

For the record.. I've owned my A Custom crashes for 5+ years and just broke my 16" this month. I am also pretty heavy handed at times! Replaced it with a 16" projection crash. This cymbal sounds a little drier and darker than the regular A Customs. I have a feeling that this cymbal will record nicely.

I really think I'm going to get into creating a collection of cymbals. :) I really want to start a set of K's, including some darker hats.

Cool. you can never have enough equipment to record with. The Projection crashes are pretty cool. K's are nice as well. Bun E. Carlos uses K's when he records sometimes.

The A Custom projection that I bought reminds me of a Paiste cymbal that my uncle plays. I do not recall the make of it however. Looks like I'll be adding a 19" projection as well for heavier stuff and riding. On a side note, I had the chance to try out some of the Zildjian Titaniums this week. (Got curious) Let me say.. Stay away from them!

And to anyone looking for a nice set of introductory cymbals.. Check out the Paiste Alphas. I've messed around with those before and for the price was pretty impressed.

Funny that you mention Bun. I'm dating one of his nieces, lol. No names though. :)

Man, I'm a HUGE Cheap Trick Fan!! I've met all the guys. Rick and Bun E. once and Robin and Tom twice. awesome players and nice guys. Special One? I was a little dissapointed. The last one (CT '97) was 5X's the album. Still, there's good stuff on Special One and they're my biggest musical influence.
