Hi all,

Well, my head is pretty well swirling now with a whole bunch of fragmented bits of information on live recording options. My vision is to record in eight simultaneous tracks, live, and then export the recorded data to a PC so it can be edited with audio software. I guess there are many ways to get a decent recorded copy but having the flexibility of being able to sit at my familiar desk and look at the 17" PC display is most attractive. It looks like the data storage device of the recorder could be minidisc, ADAT tape, or hard drive storage. Each of which offers specific advantages. ADAT with a computer interface seems cheapest at this point and still offers very good performance specs.

Anyway, I would greatly appreciate the recommendation of a few book titles on the topic that are current. I especially would like to see equipment layouts and proven methods of recording in a live situation that allows post-recording editing of individual tracks.

Thanks!

Hey! I did not steal your name! I was forced to use Rudy2 because someone (you!) already had taken my legitimate name. Actually, Rudy is a nickname that goes back about 30 years or so.

So you can be Rudy1 and I can be Rudy2, I don't mind. We Rudies must stick together! Hail Rudies!

right now i'm reading

JOE MEEKS BOLD TECHNIQUES

nice book, just for fun, about they way people recorded in the 50's,
and about the dude's life of course,
and they're talking about his inventions, and a bit about his secret techniques...whoo

very very amuzing to read, but if you're looking for some educational stuff,
most of the time older books attract my attention, cause these days
any child can publish a book, most 'modern' books i held inmy hands left a poor impression on me

what's wrong with a book written in the 50's ? mostly boring but informative
what about the 80's ... the pictures always are rediculous

i'm not totally into digital stuff, i like it the analog way,
but if you wanna find out everything about dithering and stuff, yeah,
then you'll need something pretty new i guess

so, is anyone else reading somethign for the moment ?µ
