EXPLANATIONS OF THE WAVEFORMS IN THE SUBTRACTOR SOUND MODULE

Sawtooth
This waveform contains all harmonics and produces a bright and rich sound. The Sawtooth is perhaps the most 'general purpose' of all the available waveforms. Square
A square wave only contains odd number harmonics, which produces a distinct, hollow sound

Triangle
The Triangle waveform generates only a few harmonics, spaced at odd harmonic numbers. This produces a flute-like sound, with a slightly hollow character. Sine
The sine wave is the simplest possible waveform, with no harmonics (overtones). The sine wave produces a neutral, soft timbre.

Waveform 5
This waveform emphasizes the higher harmonics, a bit like a sawtooth wave, only slightly less bright sounding. Waveform 6
his waveform features a rich, complex harmonic structure, suitable for emulating the sound of an acoustic piano.

Waveform 7
This waveform generates a glassy, smooth timbre. Good for electric piano-type sounds. Waveform 8
This waveform is suitable for keyboard-type sounds such as harpsichord or clavinet.

Waveform 9
This waveform is suitable for electric bass-type sounds. Waveform 10
This is a good waveform for deep, sub-bass sounds

Waveform 11
This produces a waveform with strong formants, suitable for voice-like sounds. Waveform 12
This waveform produces a metallic timbre, suitable for a variety of sounds.

Waveform 13
This produces a waveform suitable for organ-type sounds. Waveform 14
This waveform is also good for organ-type sounds. Has a brighter sound compared to waveform 13.

Waveform 15
This waveform is suitable for bowed string sounds, like violin or cello. Waveform 16
Similar to 15, but with a slightly different character.

Waveform 17
Another waveform suitable for string-type sounds. Waveform 18
This waveform is rich in harmonics and suitable for steel string guitar-type sounds.

Waveform 19
This waveform is suitable for brass-type sounds. Waveform 20
This waveform is suitable for muted brass-type sounds.

Waveform 21
This waveform is suitable for saxophone-like sounds. Waveform 22
A waveform suitable for brass and trumpet-type sounds.

Waveform 23
This waveform is good for emulating mallet instruments such as marimba. Waveform 24
Similar to 23, but with a slightly different character.

Waveform 25
This waveform is suitable for guitar-type sounds. Waveform 26
This is a good waveform for plucked string sounds, like harp.

Waveform 27
Another waveform suitable for mallet-type sounds (see 23-24), but has a brighter quality, good for vibraphone-type sounds. Waveform 28
Similar to 27, but with a slightly different character.

Waveform 29
This waveform has complex, enharmonic overtones, suitable for metallic bell-type sounds. Waveform 30
Similar to 29, but with a slightly different character. By using FM (see page 104) and setting the Osc Mix to Osc 1, this and the following two waveforms can produce noise.

Waveform 31
Similar to 30, but with a slightly different character.

Waveform 32
Similar to 30, but with a slightly different character.

Wow! That sound like a new error to me. I haven't come across that error. But, I use OSX and not XP.
Did you have Cubase on? I know that can make Reason not work right sometimes.
What I would do is reinstall Reason. Just the program and not the refills. Just drag the Soundbank and the refills that came with Reason to the desktop and reinstall Reason. Then drag the refills back to the folder. That way you don't have to reinstall everything. You just want to fix the application and extensions. Sounds like you might have an extension corruption.
Hope this works...

cheers for that...i went on the propeller site today at work and i think i have to install the 3.04 update

the site says there was a lot of things with 3.0 and "unknown exception" was on that list.

im not having much luck at all hey
first windows xp(semi-fixed) then cubase sx(fixed) and now reason...

computers hate me...and all my stuff is legit!!!

Ya, Reason 3.0 did have some bugs. I had problems with recording at times. Get the 3.04 update. Should fix a lot of problems. When a new software update comes out, I wait about a month before I get it. Because I know there will always be a bug before they release the fixed version...

3.04 installed and reason now loads up and works...yay!...for now

Merry Christmas

Ok here is the deal i posted a thread before of some soundfonts i made but didnt get any feed back on the sounds well i have created 5 soundfont kits 3 drum 1 bass and 1 guitar alll mophat but i want some feedback on the quality. so holler back if not here then hit me on aim at beatmakersss. i buried this inside this post for two reason. one this is as close to a reason tip as i can get because i am new to it and two you guys have been quite helpful with the tips so i didnt want fly byers just grabbing and going

It could be conflicting with something. you can always try partitioning your hard drive and putting reason on it's own drive.

how do i partition the harddrive???....i only have one 120gb in my comp ...and will i still be able to rewire into cubase?

PARTITION MAGIC

yep, you will still be able to rewire. when did reason start acting up? was it after you installed some new programs? you may want to uninstall one by one the programs that you have installed after reason. Partitioning your hard drive will isolate reason from the rest of your programs and eliminate any conflicts that it may be having with other programs. You can also try uninstalling reason and reinstalling it.

Jug..I sent you an email with a MP3 file in it to your hotmail account..

Here's a fast Reason 3.0 session with examples on making live guitars. It's not a Hip Hop style more rock to show the guitars. There's a lot of good examples of the pitch wheel and modualtion along with filters. This session is to show examples not so much to bring the heat. :D You'll see what I mean...

Natural drum patterns

I have an axiom 25 midi controller. It has piano keys as well as 8 drum pads. Does anyone know of a way to use my drum pads to control the redrum? If not is there any way to control the redrum so I can have more of an MPC feel. I would like to hit pads or even keys to really FEEL my drums. This is the only thing keeping my tracks from being big hits...they all have the same reason timing...I want to make drum patterns that are natural.

3.0 .....I actually havent bought the Axiom yet but I am planning on it if I can use the drum pads on it with reason 3.0 to play live drums.........................................................if this wont work or no one knows if it can........is there a way to play some natural drums live while recording?

If you wanted to make them more natural, aren't you also talking about killing the quantizing as well as the pad feel you're looking for? I kind of wonder if you can hook a midi controller into one usb and something like a trigger finger into the other and swap them out (without turning reason off and back on).

I ain't no Reason Pro, but I don't think it can identify more than one midi controller at a time in reason. The only way I see you controlling more than one is if there was a feature that allowed you to do that, and I have not ran into that in Reason yet.....But again, I'm still a Rookie!
