reaper question

i'm using reaper, and my tascam us-122l, which has some latency
not a big deal, if i could mute the mics wile recording, so i only have the already existing tracks on my headphones.

i'm sure this is posible, i just cant find how to do it.
if i mute the armed tracks, and put the "mon mix" dial on the tascam in the mid position i still hear an echo on my headphones...

Are you using the tascam's ASIO drivers?

You can adjust the latency in the Reaper Preferences (control-P)
Go to the Audio>Device tab and click the ASIO configuration button
Adjusting the buffers adjusts the latency.

You should be able to get down low enough (under 20ms) to stop the echos.
