Looking for tips on reamping, havent done it before (besides some tinkering with a PODxt - sounded like shite) but it looks like a great way to be able to work on tones over time. The chain right through from guitar to sequencer is:
Guitar > Triaxis > Simul-Class 2:90 > Palmer PDI-03 > DI to Delta 1010 > SX3 (don't have the ability to mic up cabs at home - babies and wife sleeping when I play in the wee hours)

My question, when I play through the rig and record a clean take... how do I go about setting up the clean channel? Are there any considerations to be taken on the tone (seeing as that tone will then be distorted with new EQ settings as it runs through the Triaxis again)? Hard to explain, hope you see what I mean. Would it be even worth while recording a clean take through the Boss GT-Pro (ultra clean), then reamping it back through the Triaxis or is it better to keep the tube element involved from start to finish?

Tips etc are most welcome

Any tips?

PS in case it matters, the music style is heavy and fast with loads of lead - I want to be able to spend a long time working on the lead tone after recording

You need to split off directly out of the guitar to a DI box and capture a completely clean signal. Most DI boxes will have a thru output to your amp so you can monitor the sound or record the amp at the same time.

Cool, I wasnt sure if I was supposed to go through the rig first. Thanks for that.

No problem. Also, are you aware that you need to use a re-amping box when sending the signal back to your amp?
Some people try to compensate and do it without one, but you'll hate it. You need to convert the signal back to instrument level for an amplifier to respond the way you expect.

Just wanted to mention that in case you weren't aware.

any suggestions on a one stop shop piece of kit? For the DI and reamping?

I 2nd the Radial stuff...the difference in the sound is incredible as compared to other DI's and Reamp boxes...it's a little pricy, but the quality is worth it.

I have a bass vamp pro which lets you record a DI track along with the regular amp/cab modeled track. If I wanted to take the DI track and send it out to my amp to mic it, I would need a re amp box? I couldn't just play the track out of my firebox and into the amp? If I do need a reamp box, what other devices could I use besides that radial? Anythign made by behringer that I can use? haha.

I havent used it yet but i believe even the radial JDI passive DI box says it can be used as a reamp device. If so thats a pretty good deal considering its a pretty amazing DI box as is.

+129843 on the radial stuff. i have the xamp.

at 175 it seems expensive until you get it. then it seems way cheap. what a great tool...adds so many options.

the passive would work well if you yer not intending to play with the "drive" of the input of the amp. (i have no clue what a triaxis is.)

later!

so what are some other options besides the radial stuff? I am broke so I can't buy anything expensive. I'm not looking for anything fancy. Just wanna be able to send a DI signal out into my amp.

any passive DI will work! passive = the ones with out power.
