hahaha, she is that for sure. She just had a baby actually and is doing very well. Her Avalon endorsement shots kill me. What a babe!

Can you imagine having a hot wife/girlfriend who's a bigger gearhead than you? :D

I think some of the guys on this board fantasize about that ever night.

If she liked football and beer, and was a nymph at the same time, I suppose you'd have the perfect woman, right?

yeah and she'd have everyone else as well!

Okay, a faithful, fidelitous nyph . . . who doesn't mind the occasional bi-sexual threesom.

Who wants to be the sole bread winner, and doesn't want her husband to work. :D

Do you think you guys could show a modicum of respect. Emily has a great set of ears and is exceptionally talented. When you've reached the level of success that Emily has achieved [through damn good ears and seriously hard work] you might be able to kid around like this... in the meanwhile, go spank it and try to move back to the topic at hand... and while we're moving this back to the topic at hand... yes, the Digimax does indeed suck that bad.

Understood, Fletch.

However, just as sort of a disclaimer . . . We're just talking about how cool it would be to hook up with a member of the female persuasion who dug recording gear. Basically an idealized, fictional character at this point. But hypothetically speaking, it could mean anyone. We're now to refering to "the perfect woman" in the abstract.

Although Ms. Lazar originally inspired the discussion, she's no longer part of it, if that makes any sense. The discussion has since evolved. :D If you could call it that.

I do apologize, though, if it comes accross as disrespectful. She's obviously a seasoned professional of the highest caliber in the industry, highly-talented, and a class act . . . and certainly deserving of the utmost respect.

Well said Fletcher...Emily is truly amazing.

Ok, so we gather that the Digimax sucks. What do you suggest then? How should we get 18 channels into our 002?

Anyone?

If I'm the king of forum trash talking in your eyes there is nothing I can do about that. FWIW, I've never talked shit about anyone who wasn't completely incompetent [see John Oram for details]... as for hardware, yeah there is a ton of absolute shit out there being passed off as "professional" equipment [well in some professions... like "books on tape" it can be used in a "professional environment"... but other than that it's worthless shit].

Suggest 18 channels that are better than the Digimax... well you're gonna have to work some overtime, but an Apogee 16x [16 channels] with either a Crane Song LTD. HEDD, or a Lavry 4496 [I'd suggest to 2x A/D - 2X D/A model] will net you 18 channels of A/D with 2 channels of serious D/A... but it ain't gonna be inexpensive [though the Apogee, while a quality unit, is still way less expensive than some of the other recommendations I could make].

Yea, so maybe he is a trash mouth. :D

But he was right on this one. There are certain people who you just need to show respect to, and I was out of line letting the discussion steer in that dircection.

Talent aside! isn't it funny how us fellas will vigorously defend an attractive woman!

I find Fletcher's colorful use of language as being... colorful.

The forums would be a lot less entertaining and informative without you.
Is that good for 10% off at Mercenary BTW? (just kidding)

Chris

I think most of us, however amateur, have better halves who know more about recording gear than the average musician ... but all of it 2nd-hand and unwanted. I haven't seen any photos of Emily Lazar, but my experience is that men will always respond differently to someone good-looking ... if women don't do that too then that shows again how superior they are to us gorillas.

BTW - theodd - I'm enjoying your mp3s. At a first listen those mixes seem ok, there's way too much guitar on the right on the first one though. If you produce something a step up from this you'll be on to a very exciting project.

Our society, by and large, is just obsessed with hot chicks.

Turn on the Television sometime and try flipping through the channels. Every other freakin' channel you'll find another hot chick somewhere.

Every American movie has to have one. Even if she serves no other purpose than to sit there and just be hot. In fact it's gotten so bad, that they even cast hot chicks to play ugly girls. Just look at Charleze Theron in the movie Monster.

And the problem is it's not just men who are obsessed. Women are equally as responsible for feeding the "hot chick machine." Take a look at the front cover of any women's magazine . . . Marie Claire, Glamour, even Good freakin' House Cleaning. What do they all have in common? Hot chicks on the front cover. Just like the cover of maxim . . . and in fact, you'll see a lot of the same chicks.

Only on maxim, they show off a lot more flesh. :D Which tells you that men love hot chicks for slightly different reasons. But the result is the same. Women love hot chicks. Men love hot chicks. Hot chicks love other hot chicks . . . and homely, aging musicians. That's why you see them with guys like Rick Okasek and all the members of the Rolling Stones.

Homeley, ageing musicians? Surely that puts you in with a shout :p

Thanks for listening to the tunes noisedude. That's all we are shooting for. We know what we "can" do. I just personally want a big step up. Our ears are developing and we have better gear now. I mean christ, we did our first LP in Cakewalk 8.0 with a Gadget Labs Wave 8/24. I can't believe how far we've come. Lordy.

Anyone else listen? To get back to the topic...do you think a nice pre would help us or is the $$$ better spent else where?

We use MAudio BX8s...which I'm not thrilled with, but they aren't actually that bad for the price. I've mixed on much worse.

back to the original question. How about a pair of Summit Audio 2ba-221s? These seem pretty versatile, offer tube or no tube - you can mix the signal with a DI, inserts, variable impedence, etc. Should run you 1000-1200.
