DJL is referring to my A Designs statement. He has decided that I must be sure that every time I post on HR I must specify that I am a dealer. I have a couple of problems with this first off and I am not trying to offend anyone here including DJL.
By clicking on my signature, by choice of course, anyone can find out what I do. That's my blanket statement. All I'm saying is I sell gear. All the brands are clearly laid out on our site, I'm not hiding a thing.
I think it would be considered SPAM a lot WORSE if I voiced my opinion on gear and said "by the way, we're a dealer for XXX brand" because anyone who is not DJL would view it that way. I think it's way too SPAMMY to keep saying that. And if I'm going to limit what I say or tag "by the way" to everything I say around here, then there are a whole lot of other folks who need to pony up the same.
In one recent thread another "gear pimp" who pops in to comment on occassion was praised by DJL for doing the exact same thing I do...talk about gear he's familiar with and happens to sell. But he's someone DJL claims he can "relate" to and doesn't consider
his post SPAM...but he is doing what DJL claims is SPAM by everyone else!!

And no I am NOT singling out Fletcher in this case, I have respect for the man and what he's done, I'm saying read the thread and see what DJL is up to. I simply state in that thread that a Radial D.I. has been working well for me. Fletcher pops in and gives a price and everything, and DJL tells him he can "relate" to him and blah blah blah.
This isn't a case of who's spamming, it's a case of who DJL wants to single out.
It makes no sense to me, and now I am a "DJL target" I suppose. It's pretty clear to me that I'm not as cool as other sales folks to DJL anyhow. That's fine, but the obvious double standard he would like to impose on me isn't fair.
In this thread, Bowisc (what up Bowisc) makes a suggestion of Sebatron gear, he uses it (is not a dealer) and knows it is real tube stuff as the original poster ghetto3jon asked about. So, I've used A Designs gear and am here to tell you along with a lot of other people that it's real tube gear also. I didn't say "you have to buy this from me" or "everything else sucks"...the guy wants to know what's real. He's leaning towards a Peavey and I'm not familiar with it and could not comment on it specifically, but in MY studio, when I want a tube pre, I reach for A Designs because it's what I have and I know the sound.
I have been posting on these forums for several years alongside many of you. I had over 2,500 posts on Harmony Central before even becoming a gear dealer, 1,000 at Studio Forums, and probably 175-200 here. I talk about gear, it's what I enjoy.
Does DJL ever pop in to call me a spammer when I comment about E/V mics I do not sell? How about Shure mics I don't sell? How about Mackie monitors I do not sell? How about suggesting the RANE MS1B preamp on occassion? I'm not saying my actions are anything special as a member, I think that if I have a product that I'm familiar with and I can help someone or just talk about it with someone, I should be able to. I was a forum member first, gear seller later. I don't think I should have to turn off my involvement or curb it, I actually enjoy these forums!!!
Months after becoming a gear reseller, I was asked to review
the Langevin Dual Vocal Combo by Steven over at
www.mojopie.com . Go read that review, and tell me if my opinion is biased etc. I like that unit and I said I did, and it's a
competing product sold by Mercenary and others. NOT Front End Audio. Why did I do it? Because I enjoy reviewing gear also and like writing, but I also enjoy helping people out. That review was written months after we started the business. By the way, Eve Anna Manley and company didn't pay me off or anything either and I didn't purchase the box at a discount (I didn't buy it, couldn't afford at the time) I just did it because someone asked me to and I did it for free.
So I'm a member of this community and one person so far has a problem with me, and it's DJL. No surprise there, he's run off Harvey Gerst and others in the past and Harvey is the nicest man I think I have ever dealt with.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant. I gotta go respond to DJL's request in my PM box to remove any and all links in my signature relating to selling gear. Thanks again for singling me out DJL.
