I've been looking at the passive yorkvilles or the event 20/20 within my budget of $300, which one would you recommend for a hip hop and r & b studio? Other suggestions welcome too....
I picked up word on the Yorkville's as well and heard a lot of good stuff about them. So i asked someone i know from a masteringhouse enar me who knows like almost everything about sound and i think this might be helpfull.
The Yorkville's are very good for the price, the only thing to keep in mind is that they operate on 6 ohm, so u need a very good amplifier that can work with it, otherwise u might start blowing stuff up.
If u also get (or allready have) a good quality amp, the Yorkville's are a very fine choice for the money
Well, it is important though. And the 20/20's are 4ohm speakers. It's definately best to start with a decent reference amplifier before (or when) getting monitors...or shop for actives.

Master,
I screwed my last reply so Ill try again. I have worked with the Yorks with Hip Hop and R&B,, They are good monitors for the price. My trick was to just learn how they translate, they are that bad to learn on. Just keep in mind tho, that if you gonna throw in some low 808 drops,, the bass repsonse is not that good,, but with some decent room treatment. I would say Go 4 em!! Get a sub if you gonna be droppin a lot.
