I know some of you asked for me to repost this when it was finished. Well, it's pretty close. I just couldn't wait any longer. I had one of those, "Holy Crap, How Could I Be So Stupid, and Deaf" over the Thanksgiving holiday and did a remix. Maybe I'm still deaf but I think it's a hell of an improvement. And it has a guitar lead in it now, and the vocals are up, and so are the backing vocals, and you can hear the accoustic now, and the snare isn't burried and I could go on and on. I guess what I mean to say is, I was starting to lose hope at ever improving my mixing skills but I think something good finally happened and I'm so happy I could shit. Oh well, thanks for listening

Here it is
LITTLE THINGS

I remember the tune, but I don't remember what I said about it. I'll say this, whatever you changed sure didn't hurt it. I don't think I even remember there being any acoustics in this. The bass has definition, but it's also doing its job.

I really like this tune, btw. I liked it even before your revelation.

So remember this...no matter what anybody else after me says, they're all totally wrong if they say anything other than, "Nice Job." :D

DISCLAIMER: I'm not well known for giving good (or even "usable") mix advice

Thanks Chris. There was accoustic in there before. You just couldn't hear it because it was full of mud.:D

That sounds like your getting a good handle on your mixing, Im still treadin water at it myself. I like the tone on that bass, kinda reminds me of a guy I used to listen to a lot, Felix Papalardi. Drums are up and cleaner too.
Good song idea

I am amazed at how things seemed to get louder but all I did was cut out some mudd with an eq.

It was from 250 all the way up to about 1.6K And it was a pretty good cut too. About -4db. Mids from hell I tell ya. Is it normal for everthing to get bunched up in the Mid range like that?

Man, I'm not the guy to answer that question. I've (very slowly) learned where my EQ problems usually pop up, and I tend to apply it to the tracks as I go so I don't end up hacking up the final mix, b/c I just suck at doing that. I know this: the bass and guitars on my stuff are always bunched up in the 200-400 range, and "mud" lives at 315Hz for me. I asked because I like learning stuff. I was listening to the tune again, btw...I could only listen on Headphones last night, but I'm kinda' cranking it now. The one thing that's sticking out just a tad is the solo...When I'm playing it REALLY loud, the mids (2k-4k) are kinda' piercing my ears. I mean, sure, I could turn it down...but what fukkin' fun is that? Otherwise, I'll say again (with more confidence) that this seems pretty well balanced.

Yep, I had a very small boost in that range. It seemed to add a little sheen at lower volume. I havent cranked it yet so maybe the boost is uneccesary. Thanks for the listen.

Okay, whoever wrote this needs to know that I actually had trouble falling asleep last night b/c this song was still racing through my brain. It's a damned good tune.
