Hey fellas...

I'm planning out a record and was going to reamp the bass after recording it DI... I looked at two Radial reamp boxes, but I'm wondering if I actually need one.

On my Hartke HA3000 there are two inputs. One says -20 dbu, and one says -10 dbu, which I assume is a line level input. Is this correct? Can I just jam it in there?

Why don't you just get a nice DI for bass?

And yes, you should be able to do that, no worries.

Yeah, we're going to record it with a DI. But I have access to a large room with concrete floors. I thought it might be cool to amp the shit at full mutha volume and see what we can mix in.

thanks, though.

You will need the reamp box. Those inputs are just high and low inputs to compensate for active or passive pickups.

the Reamp box also isolates the interface from the amp so you don't get ground loops

He should not have any issues just for a simple reamp like that, though, right? Of course, the "right" way to do it is a reamp box (I suggest the LittleLabs RedEye)...but he's not going to hurt anything going in from a patch bay or something.

It won't hurt anything to try it. But it will sound better with a reamp and the probability of a ground loop is diminished.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'll try it first, and if there is a nasty ground loop i'll try a reamp box.

I suspect it's one of those situations where we will continually improve the sound quality until we hear exactly how crappy the bass line is... sigh.
