RCA Phono Sound Card

I have an 8 track digital recorder called the "Korg D8". The machine is fantastic and works very well, but I want to record C.D.'s. I have a C.D. burner in my computer, and I want to use that. The "D8" has phono and optical outputs, and I wanted to know if anybody knows of a sound card (reasonably priced) with RCA Phono inputs(the red, yellow, and white plugs) and/or optical inputs. I tried recording through the mic and line jacks on my sound card, but the quality was more than horrible. To record, I'm using "Music Match Jukebox", so I could record directly into Mp3 quality (160 kbps).

By the way, I also wanted to know what oversampling is.

I've not used them but some of the Soundblaster Live cards have them.

How bout going to Radio Shack and getting adaptors?
for quarter inch, eighth inch, mini plug,RCA, whatever,
Radio Shack has em.
 
Well, why would I want adaptors if I would be putting it through the same port that made it sound horrible?
 
What kind of sound card do you have? If it's at all recent it should not sound "horrible" unless you're putting a line level signal into a mic input and/or you're using mono plugs (the Line and Mic In jacks, as well as the Line Out, of most inexpensive sound cards are stereo jacks like the headphone jack of a Walkman, and you need a stereo plug to connect properly.
 
Noose, perhaps I misunderstood your query, my
humble apologies.

If the soundcard sounds bad, the soundcard sounds
bad.

What I was trying to say, is if you get a NEW
soundcard, why should it only have RCA inputs?
A lot of the prosumer cards have quarter inch
inputs. If your Korg has RCA outputs, the
other end of the cord doesn't have to be RCA,
it can be anything.

My computer has a CDburner too. It cost 200 clams
more than the same computer without the CD burner.
I feel that was one of the dumber choices of
my life. If it was a stand alone unit, my life
would be easier. I have three sound cards,
and it was a hassle to figure out how to make
a CD. Best of luck, David
 
*My apology to you also, DavidK. I might have come off as rude, but I worded my response incorrectly. Thank you very much for your help.*

I put my machine through the line in, and mic in on the sound card, but they both sounded distorted when I recorded through "Music Match Jukebox". My sound card is okay when I hear the stuff through the input, but not when its recorded, why? By the way, does anyone know if the "Ensoniq" sound card is good for recording?

Hi Noose,
I dont know why that is happening, but maybe its
from Clipping?
Check out the little mixer in your computer.
Try lowering the input volume on the line in
(which should work better than mic in).
The little mixer should be under Programs/acc/entertainment/
volume control, or somethin' like that.

Maybe the signal from your Korg is really hot,
or maybe your soundcard sux!!If it was distortion,
you wouldnt hear it on input, only on playback.
