Hey Maddog I checked out that Pulsar-Tech website, and they got some damn good prices for cables, and snakes

what's the quality like, are they any good?

Hey there,
I don't know about any of the specifics, but my 4 Pulsar snakes have each held up very well. They're aren't moved around (often), are not used for live music or anything, as they just sit connected to my mixer and recorder.

I think if you're using home recording equipment (ie Tascam recorders, like mixers, etc.) then they're a very good cable to use, especially for the money.

Like Beck said, stick with the 10'. Even with my 10 footers, there is still too much unused cable.

I found a score of 6' molded-end gray Switchcraft patch cables 10 to the bag - NEW - cheap - ebay a couple years ago. I thought the deal was so good, I ordered another 10.

I've since discovered they're crap - or the wrong impedance or something - noisy little bastards.

Horizon instrument cables have been running loops and such around my studio for several years. A score of a few good Canare cables to the reverb and back have convinced me - hence my other post.

Check it out - I did a fair amount of searching to find deals!

In actual fact, Hosa makes the worst cables from the standpoint of strain reliefing. They will work fine BUT they must be strained relieved or they definitely will fail. I am talking about the ones with the molded ends at the connectors. Radio Shack are even cheaper and suck the same.

Hosa should be avoided in favor of better ( and more durable cables) because good quality RCA cables won't cost a fortune like 8 or 16 channel balanced TRS snakes.

Almost all troubleshooting I have done involving cables also invariably involved Hosa cables. It is the first question I ask.
+1 on that......

The Pulsar RCA-to-RCA snake looks just like the Hosa, only different length and the gold plated connectors. ...

:)
Looks way different to me. The colors are much richer. Purple instead of orange makes them to stand out as well. :D
Now, question: is this face red or purple - :o ? It's kind of purplish, isn't it? Looks rather like it's being choked than embarrassed.
So, that was MY first question I asked. (well, and the last one, I suppose , since I've got no trouble around to shoot, except for the damn orange - I hate it! - it's almost indistinguishable from the red in the dimming light of my cave ;) )
