I was just having a wee look at my bass amp and I realized I dont actually know what all the knobs are for.

Its nothing fancy, just a laney 30 watt thingy, cost about £100.

The knobs in question are:

- Compressor Gain - a knob with a button beside it. A wee green light goes on when I hit the button! wahey!

- We then have a place where is says Equalization, and above it says sweep mid gain, with knobs above the sweep and gain. The gain one goes into minus figures.

I would realy appreciate if if someone could describe as fully as possible what these do and the effect on the sound ect... as I dont know any bass players in real life so boards like this is the only place where I can get such info.

Cheers

well first, do u know what a compressor is? basically it takes the input signal and levels it out to a level that u set... so it boosts volume levels that are below set level up, and volume levels above it down. the gain on it works kind of like the gain on an amp (not confused with distortion) boosting the compressed signal. The eq ur talking about is pretty much a 1 band eq in which u specify the frequency (sweep) that u want to give a boost(ur gain). Hope that helped...
