Sami, I mean Ozzy, no Sami,

Sounded very good, I think you may be your own worst critic.

You my friend are one of those musical maddmen, who are never satisfied, while the rest of us just listen and marvel.

Now I go listen again!!

I refuse to rate anyone's singing. But I've liked your voice since I found the clinic. I believe the first thing I heard was "Safety Dance" too! :)

Very coherent song this time around. Flows very well without being a generic arrangement. That's the sort of thing I strive for.

I even like the electronica stuff too.

I'll this tomorrow on monitors. Can't really give muuch mix comments, if you're even looking for any. But I like the vocals, and I don't think the poll is necessary.

Good one Sam!

So are you going to do an a capella tune now too? Maybe we'll have a whole page 1 full of them!

To All: I've got this file saved if anyone wants to buy it from me tomorrow morning...

;)

thanks GT!

slooose - the poll is necessary because sometimes I don't feel like saying something sux, so I won't respond.. If the sucker had a poll with a 'blows' option, I would have checked it.. :D

tell me it sux and you don't have to explain why!

You're probably kidding, but if not, what would you gain from that?

I can't tell you..

try posting a poll and I'll check an option!

Now that doesn't mean "it blows..." it... umm... means I'm a fan ... of yours... Sam... yeah...

Gives me a little bit of a helmet feel, i think i might've mentioned that before.

I'm interested in what you used to process this, what was your mic/fx chain/fx? It's got some interesting texture.

Good job sabbath noir. Heh, see i did a little play on words on black sabbath. that cuz im clever.

p.s. the drum break at 3:00 is killer.

hell... I dunno SAM-E... it sounds like a more agressive version of "HOW 2"... clearer, angrier... what's wrong with that? Harmonies were tight...

The only thing "wrong" with them, maybe, is the lack of some body... due to the mic, most likely... they're clear enough they don't need more highs (that's tha g**d*** hubble telescope on them... listened twice!!)

Good levels. A nice mic would really make the next level of difference for you.

bite me, I ain't votin :D

I said that a while back... I'd really to hear some more detail.

Nice space in this mix, really great band sound through the leads. Damn, drums sound good.

Singing:
Performance were great and the tracks sounded good, maybe a little closed in. The last half of the singing had a slightly different tone to them than closer to the beginning. I liked the first verse best.

Listenned to this a few times, this is a really cool song. it took me a couple of listens to follow the twists and turns. The transition into and the first lead are stellar.

This is your best to date IMHO.(probably because it leans more towards straight ahead rock n roll)

The vocals ARE excellent and the song is GREAT.This has got to be the most melodic tune I have ever heard you do.I LOVE this song man.The harmony and backing vocal stuff is killer.

I really dig this song man.

i think you're a good singer sam. and i ain't voting cause that's childish and gay (no offense to anyone who is gay, that's just what we used to say when i was a kid, so it seemed like a childish thing to say).

is this prep for another audition or something? are you trying out for american idol 3?

i had this on and my wife was upstairs and asked when i started listening to ozzy. :)

I'm not a huge fan of alternative music these days. After Zappa died, I kind of lost interest in the genre. But, your stuff is performed flawlessly and very creatively.

About the vocals, I voted them as good but, I was feeling that they were too processed sounding. You have the ability to sing in key and to harmonize very well but all the effects or filters you put on your vox take away from that gift you possess.

I was tempted to say you sounded like Ozzy too but you are actually a much better singer them him.

Cheers! :)

heartbeat type conga ?

my mouth is doing strange things while I listen to the intro wah guitar ...

shit is tight ...

Now, i've been bitching lately about the use of sidestick or block in some of the tunes lately, and you just let this one melt into the mix, it's gone at one point and we never notice, excellent mixing of that element alone. And for a moment the stick and the snare become one ... very nice.

Vocal is mixed well, we get a nice strong beginning, all the words are clear, understandable this first listen ... so far :D, (and on second and third listen all vox understandable with no struggle.)

And the vox performance itself is excellent.

big round meaty guitar, me likes ...

Bass and rythm guitar are mixing very nicely ...

So ... what we might think of as the backup vocal, comes quickly out in front of the initial lead, like someone sticking their ooogleee haid through the crowd ... I like ... at 0:31-2

At 0:42, I don't know why, but I just don't think the backVox is not mixing well ... maybe it's 'too clean' and the verb on it emphsizes it's cleanness, it needs to set more on the edge with the lead ... maybe a flange or phaser on that vox ... some kind of goody to make it worthy ... i dunno ...

At 0:54 - 0:57, I like, I like the backups, a sense or real urgency, maybe those other ones before were just too laid back.

At 1:12, seems the guitar gets 'snipped' ...

At 1:18, the vocal is mixed fantastic ! I like this guy opening the closet like a crack and yelling through that crack, or like he's yelling in your ear, behind the back of his hand, at a concert.

Who needs a fucking concert when I can download cool original shit like this huh ?

At 1:44 someone cusses, imma tell yer mommeeee. u cud get banned from the ninnernet fer dat ...
no, but ... i won't tell ... :D ... what are those little white things dode, is that candy ?

At 1:47, the B part of that vocal phrase, I would crystalize more which voice you really want 'leading' there, like in the beginning, when you effectively 'switched' vocals on us, bringing what could easily be thought of as the backVox, up and over the lead, to create a 'new lead' ... if you can do this here again, mirroring that first instance, you've got a very sophisticated stylistic hook you could develop there.

Yes at 1:47 to 1:58, things are getting confusing vocally, but at 1:59, like magic, these things clear up, and a focused lead voice is re-established with well mixed backVox, might need a bit more crafting on the vox from 1:47 to 1:58. Are you hiding something under there young man ?

At 1:55, something in the vox is 'flat' ?

At 2:03 that does not happen, it's perfect, and again at 2:12, ses manufique !

And the section from 2:01 to 2:04 is just primo ...

2:10 to 2:14, primo, moist man ... good cake there on the vox.

At 2:30, I'm thinking there's too much verb on the vocal, could be sharper there, maybe EQ me some more mids on the vox. I want to hear the vocal nice and edgy again, in my face again here.

At 2:47 ... uhhhh gotta go to the bathroom hold on ... brb ....

ok ... little wierd men are in my computer !!!! agggghhhhh .... hee hee ...

At 3:30, I hear this 'heart again' ... breathing, and beating ... I'd fade out sooner on this heart ... leave us to get back into our own trip sooner ... just get us jump-started into it with the heart thing at the end.

I know you probably had some anal fixation on 4:00, wanting to be perfect and all, and probably did a bunch of algebra and shit to get it right on 4:00 minutes ... but ... well ... that's pretty fucking good dude ! :D

Hey, you are a master at what you are doing, a master musician.

Some of the harmonies on this killed. I mean it; it's my favorite thing in the world to hear vocal arrangements that sound like they weren't just ad libbed on the spot.

I once made a similar request about getting a "clean" vocal from you, but then I decided that FX are our friends, and that clean vocal tracks are for losers, and that ANY EFFECTS that somebody wants to use on a vocal track are TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE, lmao.

Nice one man.
