fellas... I need to get a really rare and specific pot. any suggestions on where to look?

xoxo

Drink a lot of beer. You're young, but eventually you'll get a pot.

If you have a part number (usually on the part itself) go to http://www.partminer.com
It's one of the best part searcher sites out there. You'll have to download the free search software but it's a great tool.

Just for a chuckle, can you let us know what the specs are on this pot you need; range/taper/tolerance/physical package style/size/switched/unswitched etc..
There's a great parts store in my town and I love to play "stump the guy at the counter" in between more serious bouts of shopping there.

ok, doc. I dont know all that stuff. I know its a double-gang 50kohm + 500 kohm.. its a wah-wah pot, so you tell me the taper, I need a 1"-1.5" shaft, and a PLASTIC HOUSING. its unswitched, as well.

but If I could find ANY double gang with different ranges in a plastic housing.. id be happy.

Not standard issue.
Your best bet would be to tear one out of another wah wah pedal. You need a specific range of motion matched to the right resistance ranges and it has to be pretty heavy duty when it comes to applying force to the mechanism.

Whats the problem ?

Is the pot scratchy sounding, shaft broken or what ?
If it needs cleaning, spray with control cleaner. If it is an active type with battery, a leaky coupling capacitor would cause it to be scratchy sounding. If you have tried all of this,or the shaft is broken, call the factory that made it. Ernie ball sells replacements for there pedals.
Thats it !

you guys... all other wah pedals are inferior.

The pedal was made for a few years only by ibanez, and Ive had no luck finding ANY info on it from them.

The problem is that, due to the amazing quality of the componets to the pedal, Ibanez had to puth the thing in a plastic housing. Due to my rocking nature, I smashed the thing in half. twice. I was able to repair the board, but I was forced to retrofit the entire works into a metal housing. The POT doesnt quite have enough thread to get on the thing... so I have to really crank it on. so its a little smashed from that. Also, it shorts out against the housing, and there isnt any thread-room for insulation.

BELIEVE ME IF THERE WAS AN EASY SOLUTION, I WOULD HAVE FOUND IT!!!

what I need is a replacement pot, only with either a plastic housing or a lot more thread.

BUT it is SO worth it. I don't know if anyone uses Ibanez wahs, but they are head and shoulders BETTER than any other... with the possible exception of fulltone. Morely sux. EB sux. Dunlop can kiss my ass.

thanks, you guys...

ps the writing on it is this:
J(circle with line thru it) 478Z500K(OHM)+50K(OHM) AGR

can someone tell me what the taper and all that is? Im trying to learn the language, so I can tell state electronics what I need....

xoxoxo

audio, linear, and reverse audio

Those are the only tapers i know of.The AGR could stand for audio, gang, reverse audio, but i wouldn't count on it. The best thing to do is to measure the resistance across middle wiper and one of the others to determine what taper. The easy one to find is linear, will measure equaly from middle wiper to either outside lugs when the pot is adjusted midway.
