Well, it's like this, Cent.
I'm having a difficult time distinquishing the difference between Rap and Hip-Hop.

My man Gec did some Hip-Hop that caught my fancy.
He's my mentor, by the way.

Guess I'd have to say my fav is Gec, since he's all I know.

I'm a blues/rocker by heart & soul.
I'm expanding my interests, ya might say.
I'm gonna do my verison of a Hip-Hop pretty soon.

Trying to figure this recording equipment out.


I'd like to welcome ya, Cent, to the best recording site I know of, and I've checked out all that I could find. Some are pretty durn good, but this one has the real home recording folks in mind and sharing their knowledge.

yo! badgas the difference between hiphop and rap is... Hiphop is the culture and rap is the artform of emceeing etc. There's hiphop music, but no music IS hiphop. Yo can rep hiphop in your music, but it's still rappin/emceeing etc, it's not hiphop, it is a part of hiphop, very much so.

I'm an emcee, but nothing to link ya'll with, peez.

I disagree! Hip Hop is indeed the culture, Out of the culture came the music which (WAS) RAP.
Which is now referred to as Hip-Hop (as Hip Hop is the music that is made for the culture) Which is the street level music. Usually more poetic and or conscious.

Rap is a sub division of what used to be RAP (Hip Hop)
Rap music is generally commercialized, with only one goal,selling records.

to me hip-hop is about the beat that reflects the life.

rap is all ego.

whether its a band, or turn-tablist, hip-hop is about a DJ just wanting to make your body move.

rap is about reputation.

crosstudio, whatever it is to you is fine in your world, but it's flawed... There's alot of good rap out there that's not all about reputation and is about life. There's alot of hiphop all about reputation.

Mayby if you put "gangster" in front of rap, you'd be onto something a lil.
