RAM to avoid?

I use a pc (AMD dual-core) and I need to upgrade my RAM, but I don't want to get the wrong stuff. Newegg has some pretty good after-rebate deals on 4g RAM. Will this be good enough, or will I risk problems using certain types of RAM?

I don't know if it was my RAM or not but I was having problems w/ the buffer settings and nothing I did would make a difference but I changed out the RAM to a different manufacturer and it seems like it made a considerable difference.

Problems with Pro Tools has been related to RAM in the past so it is entirely possible that bad RAM would cause this.

I personally, would avoid anything from a non-reputable brand.

I've never had any major problems with RAM. But I don't buy the cheap stuff either...nor do I buy the most expensive. I'd just read over the reviews on new egg and see what other people think. They're usually spot on.

I think there tends to be a lot of imitation/fake stuff that comes out of the far east. I have bought stuff labeled as "Crucial" but it has been of awful quality. I think the main distribution line for these fakes is eBay. Stick to reputable brands from a reputable reseller.
