Raising volume without producing gain?

Is there a trick to doing this? Or perhaps no way to do it at all?

I just don't want to distort the bass when I raise the levels is all. Thanks in advance for your help.

Right click over waveform,
select Properties,
Normalize gain,
Apply....
Now you should be able to lower your fader to the volume you want.

if you mean visually zooming in the level without changing gain its control up arrow or control shift up arrow, one of those (I customized my commands so I cant remember the default)
