Raising volume of selection?

I just want a certain part of my tracks volume raised (a few seconds) how can I do this in Reaper?

for pre fx you could grab the item handle (if set to Volume envelope range -inf to +6 in options\prefs\editing behaviour)

Or hit the automation button and set a volume envelope for pre or post fx gain
