ok.. quick history here..

new to recording.. girlfriend plays piano.. wanted to record some stuff to cd.. she bought a digital kawai piano a couple months ago.. we got her a soundblaster audigy platinum ex sound card [which after reading around the bbs here i regret].. been playing around with different demo programs trying to record some stuff.. now, here is the problem.. everything that i record seems to record ok but plays back really quiet.. i have to turn the speakers up almost all the way to here it.. its the same no matter what program i use.. also the same wether its midi or digital audio.. im kinda baffled.. every other sound file on the computer plays fine

anyone got any suggestions??

thanks

yeah.. i've played around with that.. can't seem to get anything to work at the moment.. im too pissed off right now.. i'll have to play around with it later..

heh..

what software are you recording in?...hopefully you have one that has VU meters to monitor the incoming signal...you want to record as hot a signal as possible without hitting 0db.....

also, are you recording to the analog inputs of the card or the digital?....does the piano have digital outs?....

well.. i've tried various programs and they were all playing back quietly.. i was playing around with cubasis vst this morning and i wasn't getting anything back.. but the vu meter was showing a signal.. the piano has midi in and out, a right and left line out [which are 1/4" phono jacks that i have run into one 1/4" line in on the audigy external drive, and it also has what looks like an 8 pin circular jack labeled computer.. sorta looks like an s-video jack.. like i might have said earlier.. i can record in midi and notate but it plays back really quiet.. and when i record throught the line outs it records but plays back really quiet.. maybe im just not setting up the software correctly..
