I was looking at the Vantec Stealth case fans.

Fan Size: 80x80x25mm
Rated Voltage: 12 V
Rated Current: 0.08 Amp
Air Flow: 27 CFM
Rated Input Power: 0.96 W
Noise: 21 dBA
Rated Speed: 2050 RPM
Bearing: 2 Ball Bearings

Is the 27 CFM going to be sufficient to cool off my system

P4 2.4GHz cpu,
512 RDRAM
2 HD
Aardvark dp2496
ASUS P4T533-C mobo

The 3 stock fans that came with my Enermax case are pretty loud, but cool off my system nicely. Currently, the system peaks at about 100 degrees F.

Thanks, all of you kind, kind people!

I think the CPU/heatsink fan is more important than the case fan. I use an Enermax variable 80mm fan (set at its lowest speed) on my Volcano7 heatsink (AMD 1600). I use an identical fan on the case--also set at its lowest setting. I can't remember the exact RPM (around 2000), but it is quiet and keeps the case around 105 F.

For a comparable case fan... see this site. Their Silencer 80mm fans have almost identical specs. 27CFM's 20 dBA. I own two and they run quiet and keep my case cool. (30C)

I think the Vantech's are just as good, but you can get the Silencers cheaper (PC Power and Cooling has free shipping). Also.. for another option.. thee quietest case fan you can get is the Papst 80mm Ultra Quiet. (only 12 freaking dBAs!! ) They are dead silent. But they have two draw backs... they cost 20 bucks pretty much everywhere, and they don't push much air. (19 CFMs) But if you want your air moved dead silent.. then these are the way to go. Get four of em (or more) in a good case and they'll prolly do the job without making a peep.

by the by.. did I mention I'm selling one of my Papst fans??? ;) Only 15 bucks shipped... you know you want it... come on....

Hmmmmm. Tempting...I must say. But then I'd have to get 3 others. My wallet ain't that thick. I'll think about it.

You think I'll have overheating probs with my P4 chip? Aren't they supposed to run cooler than AMD? Anyways, I just want a quiet pc for recording. I purchased a Dell for my father, and it's pretty darn quiet. Then again, it only has one fan.

Thanks for all the help!

Still open to other opinions, though.

Yes, the P4's run cooler than the Athlons, so you should have an easier time cooling it.

Take a look at Panaflo FBA08A12L fan. 1900 rpm / 24 CFM / 21 dba.
Cheap and very quite.
I have two of them in my case: one is a case fan, another - on the heatsink for the Athlon. Nice and cool.
