Hi, just found this forum, this is great!

I have never done any music recording, other than reel to reel in a very old radio studio. So I'm a newbie.

I'd like to be able to record my voice or samples from a CD into, say, a keyboard, so my baby who is 1 can just hit the key and play it back. Maybe I'm just talking about a basic electronic keyboard - can someone give me an overview of this? And does anyone know if there's something like this specifically for little children out there?

If you want to record custom sounds then play them back you need a sampler. There are many different types and there may be some cheap ones for kids but I'm not sure. Look on Ebay and there should be some older ones for pretty cheap. Popular brands were Emu and Akai.
