Hey guys,

I have been recording on my laptop for a while, just using the internal mic and the ASIO4ALL audio device, but I am looking into purchasing something like M-box with Pro Tools LE so I can get some professional sound going there.

Question is, I know with some of those USB adapter things you need to have a really solid sound card or something as well since laptop sound card's generally blow. Now, if i was to invest in the M-box (normal not pro) or M-Audio, would I need to do anything with a sound card whether it be a new one or existing, or does this device somehow like make up for that, or I don't know how to explain what I am asking, but if anyone knows what I am trying to say I greatly appreciate a response.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot!

Makes sense, I thought so but I wasn't sure too sure. I think I might be investing in the mbox.

Asio still used?

Now if I were to invest in an AI would it still be using the ASIO driver to access the soundcard on my pc? Or does this not even apply anymore?

Besides "artificial intelligence" what does AI stand for?

Yes, but you would be using the ASIO driver that comes with the new interface.

Oh okay so it installs all these new drivers for me?

Magic, thank you!

this might seems stupid to ask... but I am using ASIO4ALL now, would I have to uninstall it and or previous drivers then?

The only reason you needed to use ASIOforall is because your soundcard doesn't have it's own ASIO driver.

Once you get a proper interface, it will come with the driver and you will be able to choose that in your DAW

so in otherwords, yes get rid of asio4all and just use the drivers and software that comes with the audio interface.
