Quick mix of an almost finished tune....

Another great Rami tune! I like everything about this but I'd really like to hear those fill guitars come up a bit. And I think a bit more kick (maybe some verb to make it BOOM?) would really help. But either way, it's definitely Rami!

Thanx Bro! I guess I'll bring those guits up more. I wanted it to be a more subtle part that was "there", but not at "guitar solo" volume. But the general concensus is that they're still too low. If that many people mention the same thing, there must be something to it, so I'll bring them up.

Sure hope this doesn't become elevator music. A song like gravity and elevators are not a good mix. :D

LOL!

I have a CD that I keep delaying. At first, it was going to be a 10 song CD. Then, I wanted to put a couple of newer ones on. And then a few more. So, it went from 10 to 12 to 15......and now I'm at 19. I'll put it out when I hit 20. :D

Agree with everyone else... you definetly have your own "rami sound" to your recordings....clean, tight, punchy...love your guitar and bass work in this...funky man...every note counts...nothing wasted... cool volume swell's...rocks!

Thanx Queep. Those volume swells are actually reversed guitar. The chords in that part are B/A. So I just played A/B and reversed it to get that effect.

Thanx SirN. Skynard, huh? That's weird. I don't hear it at all. But, I like Skynard, so that's cool. :cool:
 
Not so much the vocals, but the music to me feels kinda like a "Working for MCA" or "Gimme back my bullets" thing.
 
I think in general it is very good. Great use of space and certainly not overproduced.

My thoughts are that the instruments when playing together sound very good and fit the mix good.

Since there is quite a bit of space in the song, the instruments although fit good together, lack being "killer" when they're more opened up and exposed on their own.

The examples would be the kick around the 2.35 mark. Same with the bass. That's where in those types of areas, you change up their sound a little, since they become more spotlighted. ...or more so if you've already done so.

the gtrs and bass work together, because they're playing the same thing for the most part and just "layer" the sound. Hence, those parts sound great.

maybe some MILD chorus on the bass... some more obvious "room" sound on other things.. you get the idea.


Good song. tuff to keep things sparce and sound good. I tend to "gravity" to the other end of the spectrum!

Thanx a lot for the detailed comment, Mixmkr. You make some great points and suggestions. I always come back and look at old threads when I re-mix a song, and try most, if not all, of the suggestions. This won't be an exception, and I'll pay special attention to your suggestions.

it needs more atmosphere, it just all sounds like guitar and drum, but doesnt take you anywhere. the vocals sound best on the chorus, but the verse voice dont sound good. cooo-oool aiy yi yi.

*Edit oh man, i just noticed i had my balance on the receiver only going to one speaker, im going to put the balance in the middle and see how different it sounds.

Well, he's got one speaker in his bedroom and the other is probably stored in the attic. :laughings:
 
This reminds me of earlier Thin Lizzy, Johnny the Fox type of tune. I like the sparseness and tightness of it. Nothing to suggest mix-wise, sounds great over here
 
Very good. Has a Southern /Skynard feeling to it. The only thing that bothered me was the snare. It has like a metal ring or tightness to it and doesn't flow with the rest of the song which has that low drive to it....Other that that rip it up Bro!!! Awesome tune!
