So I have an ld AKG and a couple MXL pencil mic as a set up, but I have to put it away whenever I'm not using it. And sometimes I just like to sit down and play without worrying about setting up the mics.

So I guess my question is, does anyone know of any good room mics that won't break the bank, like $50 or less and I don't have to worry about dust or heat too much. I looked around and this doesn't seem to be a popular subject.

thanks a bunch

easy. MSH-1A. cheap, good, small, rugged. i keep one in my pocket. :D

Aren't those called the MSH-10 now?

The 1a was the prototype, IIRC. I should know - I was one of the testers for that line.

I think you're right. I'm not sure what the differences in the 1A and 10 are but I'd bet that they're close enough to recommend one having only heard the other.

I use an SM57 for that exact purpose... vocals, acoustic, electric.... You name it.
