Quick ? for Light

If I take my poly finished Squire outside long enough to take a picture of it (less than 5 minutes) with the snow as a backdrop, will the finish start cracking?

It's in the single digits here.

I'm thinking about picking up PS Elements, though. Don't know what all capabilities it has, though.

IMO - Less than 5 minutes should not be a problem. Let Light chime in, I don't want to be responsible..

Prolly not! Nitro....... prolly so when you brought it back inside to a warm room. Pretty tough to relic a polly finish. At least to make it convincing looking. Go ro reranch to check out some of the available products and methods.

I reliced a mexican poly tele, and it was pretty simple..... took the body off and let my 2 year old throw it around the backyard for a few days.

Bottom line? with poly, you can make it look like a well played... poorly loved guitar, but its almost impossible to make it look vintage.

It should be fine, but I would suggest setting up the shot FIRST, then bring the guitar out only when you are actually ready to shoot it. I'm assuming that you want it on a stand, because if you don't, you should.

Thanks. And yes, I will put it on a stand.

I just thought that the snow on a nice sunny day would make a good backdrop for the metallic cobalt blue of the guitar, and I need really bright light to bring out the color.

And to Flamin Lip, I'm not trying to relic it, I don't want the finish to crack.
