We have been using an Aardvark Q-10 with Cakewalk Sonar for some time now with great success. Now, we need more inputs for larger bands, etc. Obviously, the Q-10 is discontinued, but they're still available out there at reasonable prices, so we'd like to stick with the same unit and just add another one on.

What I need to know is.... do we need the full package with another PCI card?... or can we hook another one up with a S/PDIF cable?... or do we need only the original cable that comes with the unit?

I've seen Q-10's on Ebay for as little as $200 for the unit alone, without any extras. I'm just wondering how to go about this in the most cost-effective manner. If we don't need the full package, it would be nice to save the extra money.

Any advice is appreciated.

i think the s/pdif would only do you stereo (2 channels)... i think you need the pci card as well but i have never done this. i was interested in doing this at one time but i have a shuttle xpc which only has one pci slot (price you pay for having a small little unit).

Thanx...

Anybody else got any experience with this?????

I own two Q10, and yes you need both PCI cards. The units are powered by those cards.

I have the latest drivers, should anybody need them. The web site is down (I'm told) while they restructure and find new financing. Evidently the money guy yanked out suddenly and squelched the cash.

where did you hear this about aardvark? i thought they were just out of business.... thatd be great if they could make a comeback....

I got an email from a guy who needed the latest drivers. He called or visited there, (can't remember which) and got information about them losing the financing partner.
