What's actually included with the sample content for VSampler?

Any chance of a tracklist?

:) Q.

I second the motion.
Plus,if the sample is a "demo" type instrument it would be nice to know.I purchased Gigastudio and it advertised "3 CD's worth of sample content",well a good portion of those samples were demo's.Phrases using the instruments, incomplete keyboard mappings,etc..

No, it is no Demo, althoug it is a weird registration procedure.
It has 2 sample discs, one with several instruments which I have not tried, and an other disc with Liveform Piano, very nice.

I keep hearing conflicting reports about the sample content. It was posted on KVR-VST that the non-piano disc was mostly demo samples from different companies and some did not respond to velocity and other parameters. If true, that's too bad.

What hasn't been conflicting is the agreement about the registration. I've heard the challenge/response is a nightmare.

This is how I understand.

Disc 1 contains purely Sonar stuff (with all the DXis, of course)

Disc 2 and 3 contains materials for Vsampler...
Disc 2 appears to have several demos from several sources. Disc 3. has Piano stuff and it seems to be a complete sample set.

Here's the problem I see. The VSampler that comes with Sonar 3.0 is only a demo version and/or is "running in demonstration mode with limited functionality. To remove the restrictions you need to purchase the full version. Please check www.vsampler.com for a list of VSampler-dealers and online-shops." <-- that's what you read on the screen when you open Vsampler. The full version for Sonar 3 user will cost you $55.

Since I have previous version of VSampler, I don't know how much I need to spend for the full version. But the current Vsampler 3. is a lot different (visually) from what I already have.

The registration for Sonar is not complecating. You just go to the web site and just register it.

But for VSampler, you need to do that challenge/response thingy. If you don't need to use VSampler then you don't need to worry about the registration process. I haven't done it yet myself but I've done that with other products in the past so it should be fine. Right now I'm runing Vsampler in Demo mode. It's running fine though. I don't know what the limitations are yet.

CW has a history of making the "extras" sound like more than they really are. Remember the "Musician's Toolbox"? They duped me twice on that.

This is what I'm talking about.Sample demos are worthless. Although you can list them in your advertising as part of the sample content, they actually do you no good. What I want to know ishow much of the sample content is/are real "whole" instruments?

CW Marketing guy must be doing a real good job.;)

I dunno what's up with you guys, but my vsampler is running quite fine. Seems to have full functionality...as a plugin. The difference between vsampler in Sonar 3 and the retail version is that you can only use it as a plugin, while the retail version allows you to use it as a standalone application with rewire support. I registered using the serial number (right below my sonar serial number), I got an e-mail with the registration code, and I've been having lots of fun with vsampler. I've converted (and saved, which the demo doesn't allow you to do) a couple akai CDs into vsampler libraries and am having fun running a couple of instances of the plug in around as the polyphony goes flying to the sky.

Yes, most of the content is demo samples. They're pretty good, though. There are some full libraries on disc 2, though. There's a solid library of drum kits, for example, with general midi mapping. Good quality on those. There's also a few good basses and there's a fine sounding overdrived guitar from aka-online. Really nice sound, and with a couple variations in tone as well. The piano is...okay. I gotta admit, I've been spoiled on Gigapiano and Steinway B. These pianos aren't as pristine, no question. They're still very usable, though, and the imperfection of it might be desired...the greater presence of the hammer sound, the sound of the fingers upon the keys, etc...

So basically disk 2 and disk 3 are useless (at least for us that already have excellent piano sounds)?

I've been spoiled on Gigapiano
Well I've got Gigapiano, and I'veI've got Kompakt, which comes with complete sounds.I am a guitar player,so the guitar samples do nothing for me.
Well it looks like finally my mind has been made up for me.
