You gotta speak up!
NO.
Some people get their voice mainly from their head & nasal cavities...I'm saying push out of the gut and through your chest and throat. The difference can be huge, and you can go from a nasally weak voice to a full/deep strong voice by using your gut chest and throat.
Of course, don't abandon the head voice...use all of your "voices" as needed when singing for getting a different effect.
Same as when you whisper and speak softly VS loudly...your voice changes and it's source changes.
Oh...the YouTube clip...what's with the heavily slathered on reverb?
Man, it's just a total wash...is that what you were going for, or was that the result of you trying to "hide" your voice because you don't like it?
From the little bit I could discern in that "reverb soup"......I don't think you voice sounds all that "nasally and weak" or bad for that matter...so it may be just your self-consciousness that's got you spooked.
Just sing...let it rip.![]()
What's with the excess reverb? Well, the recording was done almost 6 years ago and I was experimenting with my then new recording software which really impressed me to no end at the time.
At the time I thought it sounded alright. As aforementioned, what I hear, whether it's me or anything else is
a very fast decay in sound as in a very effective sound proof booth. What some might call "muted" or "dead" sounding and the reverb use was an attempt to counter that effect so what I heard would sound more lively.
Also, the nature or mood or state of mind of the song I was attempting to convey was "reflective" or "remeniscent" as one would be recalling a distant past or as if in a dream.
I guess one man's dream is another man's soup. LOL.
At this point in time, I really don't have much more to offer in the way of vocals but I've got some vague ideas
in the back of my mind. Lyrical and spoken ideas, that is.
thanks for the encouraging words
