I have read good things about this preamp as a bass DI and for micing acoustic guitar, but not much about vocals. How is it on vocals? Any particular mics that seem to match up with it well for any of these applications?

It's not going to add anything that isn't there. Pretty much anything will sound good with it. Can't think of anything off the top of my head that would be any more of a match for it than anything else. It's just a nice, transparent pre that will work surprizingly well with alot of different mics.

I've been using one for a bit and it seems real clean and clear. Just what I like. I haven't tried all my mics with it, but it seems to work well as a bass DI and as a clean mic pre. Definitely a keeper.

On a male vocal, baritone I get the following results:

NTK -> DMP3 - Great combo!
C1 -> DMP3 - Good combo
Marshall 67G ->DMP3 - Good combo
Oktava MC012 -> DMP3 - Marginal combo (Good on acoustic)
SM57 -> DMP3 - Good Combo but needs extensive limiting or compression.
Marshall 990 -> DMP3 - Just OK.

Your results will wildy vary depending on the singer but there you go.

It's a great pre, clean to slightly warm, very versatile.

Sounds like what I need to make my exit from Behringer-land. Thanks.

It is also a really good pre for using with a keyboard into one of the portable digital recording studios by Korg, Roland, Yamaha, etc.
