When I record the vocals it seems to bright and its like over the music and IT sounds like its not in the music.. It sounds like something over it.. I know.. Lower it but still doesnt sound right.. sounds to bright... would a Pre-Amp fix that or would I need a better mic to fix it? and if I do what mic?

Im in a Hardcore band

What are you using?
anyway, here is a stab in the dark. If you lower the vocals and they get swallowed up by the guitars, that means that the guitars and the vocals are fighting for the same sonic space (frequency range) Sweep your parametric to find the frequency that is fighting and dip it out of the guitars. What you have done with that is made a hole in the music bed for the vocals to sit in so you don't have to have it on top of the mix.

thanks. but would a preamp also help? how would I be able to prevent this from recording next time? I used a friends Korg D1600mkii which I am going to buy.

A preamp could help, but you could probably get by with some compression and eq.

Panning also helps alot when everything starts to get squashed into the same "place"

Greg,

You might try singing into the mic at a different angle. Perhaps 2 inches above the mic, but into the mic. Try several different positions of attack into the mic if you will... You might find this helps, or if it is still bright, figure out where it is bright and cut it with EQ 2dB.
