I got an SM57 today and have some questions. The head is not fixed but rotates around freely, without unthreading anything. It is also noisier than my SM58. Is all this normal?

The end is supposed to be able to turn but it should NOT be noisier than a 58.

What do you mean by noisier? More sensitive or self noise? It will be a little more sensitive and more suseptible to breath pops due to the lack of the extra filter in the Ball.
