How do I find the BPM of a sample?

Ive cleared a few samples, Ive started work with them. Im new, I dont know how to find out what the BPM of the sample is, I know its required that I have the original BPM of the song, so my work'll sound onbeat. Thanks in advance, much love.

If you don't have a sampler, drum machine or some other form of
tap-tempo counter, try and use the manual method of tempo-calculation.
Simply count the beats/tempo for 15 seconds than multiply by 4.

If the math gets too complicated here is a trick if your software supports it. Past the loop for a measure or more (depending on length) and then many DAWs allow you to Fit Tempo to Selection. There will be a way to tell the software that those loops are equal to one measure (or whatever it is) and the software will change the tempo accordingly.

Here is a search on google with some good stuff http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=samples+per+bpm

Thanks!

Ill try that method of counting the beats. Because it just happens that I dont have a sampler, drum machine etc. Im working with a software based setup, FruityLoops (v3.5) & Cool Edit Pro (v1.2). I dont think that FLoops has a taptempo counter, does it?

Roadkill - Im not quite sure about what you said, if I had a drum loop at a BPM of 90, in CEP, if it happens to have the Fit Tempo to selection, it'll automatically change the tempo to the drumline?

Give me a bit of time, Im a slow learner.
