I have a Marshall AVT50. It produces 50 watts at 4 ohms. The single celestion in the cab has an impedence of 16 ohms right? So I'm really only delivering about 3-4 watts to the speaker when I have it at 1/4 volume, which is pretty loud.
If a single 12" speaker only requires about 10 watts to hit max volume, why do people bother with 100 watt amps? The only benefit I see is more low end punch. Do they use different crossovers?
