Question about baffeling

I've noticed in a lot of control rooms the baffeling material on the walls is only in a small area. Would there be a benefit to covering the wall? I realize that stuff is expensive is this why it's only on "exposed" walls?

You will find that a totally treated control room doesn't produce the most accurate monitoring environment.A mix of dead/live "zones" will produce a more natural sound.For the home studio one of the best ways to suss out what works best on a budget is to simply grab a wide range of CDs(preferably classic tracks that you know backwards)and listen at different levels and positions in the room.Look for boominess in the back corners and messy stereo imaging at the mixing position.Gradually introduce some damping and bass trapping until your CDs sound balanced and"familiar".This isn't always easy but it is a good start.
