I am considering a purchase of a vscdr2 to write from a vs880ex. Can I use an internal HP CD Rewriter, if I use Zip Disks to transfer the data to the computer where the rewriter is? Will the HP CD Rewriter do the same as the vscdr2? Thanks!

Your letting yourself into a world of pain here. The transfer rate of a zip disk to a hard drive coupled with the added quality control nightmare of a 7:1 conversion rate
between media size leads anyone to the conclusion that the Zip Disc be left to Gilligan and the rest of the castaways. It's Jaz or the Syquest equivalent at least.

On this one Im partial, because in the past I did use my zip, however slow it was to transfer. If you already have the zip drive,
and also already have the HP writer, than of course by all means you can accomplish what you want, without spending the cash, If you can tolerate the slow transfer rate that Drstawl mentioned. But to maximize speed and overall ease, and if you have the wallet get the vs-cdr, and if not the syquest is also an excellent suggestion. Hope that answered your question. peace!

Hold on here.

Do you already have an internal HP CD-RW?

If you do then use that.

About getting your stuff onto the computer. Does your computer have a SCSI slot in the back? I not, then a card or adapter can be bought so you can hook up your VS directly to your computer. A SCSI card for your computer is a lot less $$$ than a CDRW for your VS.
