QS8 ADAT question

I have one of the old original QS8's I bought new. I am trying to hook it up to my Motu 828MkII I've tryed in on 44 and 48 with no luck. I've even looked the manual over trying to figure it out " I'm that desperate". Anyway the manual states it can hook up directly to an Alesis ADAT machine but that it is a propriatary ADAT buss. It mentioned something about a AI-I converter to use on other systems.

Is this necessary? or is there some other way around it. I just want to use the digital for a cleaner signal into my chain. I got another synth and controller using the MIDI and want to get the most bang out of the 828.

Any advice would be appreciated.

my qs+ also mentioned a converter, not sure why, unless it's got something to do with the 2 track vs 8? i really wish they just used spdiff 2 track/stereo since it's all ya need for a kbd, but i guess since they're alesis and all...

I was going over some documentation for some of the other equipment I have that supports ADAT. The ART DPSII manual says it will interface with Alesis ADAT I still couldn't run the QS8 through that sucessfully.

I tryed it earlier with a 75ohm coax cable with termination but still no luck.
