I couldn't get this sound to work until I started mixing from the guitars and vocals...I usually do heavier stuff so I start at the drums. Anyways, I think the vox might be a bit too loud, but it's pretty balanced on all the systems I've played it on...It's not completely done, the singer is coming to record some more parts...I need to auto-tune him in a few places...And I could use some tips on how to get more thump from this. The interlude in the middle hasn't been touched...But otherwise, *I* like the mix.

Gimme some feedback hombres!

What's screamo?

It sounds ok, but I only have headphones. Honestly it's not my story musicaly. It's really amazing what 'punk' is nowdays...

EDIT: I dig the kick drum sound.

Heh, not punk to me either...Screamo is like emo but with screaming. I dunno, these kids today, with their cores and their whatnots. I don't care about genres. But these guys think they're punk. Punk like AFI or My Chemical Romance, not like Dead Kennedys or The Dwarves.

Really? I haven't processed the kick at all aside from using a transient maximizer. It's one of The Blue Room's samples. It's the exact kick that their drummer uses so it matched well.

Emo is not a stlye of music. This isn't screamo at all.

It is to some people. Go to any online music community and put in emo as your genre. You'll get a lot of bands. Thank you for the constructive criticism...

right i listen to a fair bit of post hardcore (blanket term for this style)
the singer is way out of his vocal range, it sounds wrong. Most of the singers in this genre sing this high naturally so he sounds really strained. Mixwise its pretty good

yeah, the singer is way out of his range. also the high guitar parts and the vocals are competing during some parts of the song. otherwise its not bad.

hey man sounds pretty good. i wouldnt autotune that singer man. he's not that far off and doing so might kill some of the song's emotion.

The drummer is awful, his time is all over the place and technique is holding him back from playing these fast roles he is hearing. and the two guitars are having serious trouble playing simultaneously. Basically it sounds like a group of kids whose only practice routine occurs when they're at "band practice" which probably happens once a weak. I hope they are paying you at least $40 and hour because I wouldn't be able to hold up knowing I'm doing it for less.

Mixwise I think it sounds better than most things I can crank out.

Ben

lol, thanks Ben. You're spot on on EVERYTHING though; these guys don't practice but once a month and they never practice their instruments. I said I'd do 3 songs for 300 bucks because they're my friends and I figured it would only take a few days. It's been a month on and off now and we just tracked bass for the second song : (

It's a good learning experience...I'm never doing a flat rate unless I'm getting over a grand again, lol.
