Punk Cover: Toots and Maytals "Sweet and Dandy

Wow, I haven't heard a Toots tune for yonks. I'll have to pull out my Maytalls LPs now.
The lead vocals are less shrill on this. I actually like the fella's voice. Don't know if I'm fussed on the arrangement: it's so thick/busy that there's no room for the vocals to sit within it. As a result the vox are pretty much on top.
Speed reggae!

ray as always, you've got the ear my friend.

i sat down with it and i realized the first mix was too beefy for a punk mix. I revamped the whole thing, punched it up...I replaced the older mix with the new (and hopefully final) mix :D

There's a lot of low end mud and resonance going on. It's a cool cover, just tighten up the bottom end. The bass is romping all over everything.

I love that fucking bass line. Takes me back to my bass playing Ska days. haha.

Only thing is its a little too loose sounding. Floopy and clanky. It does need a tightening.

Great cover. Truly.

sounds good at work.

Loved the guitars.

To me the kick is a little too loud. Maybe the snare too, but to a lesser extent.

You could probably nudge the backing vox up just a bit.

after going through like 30 different mixes...I think we got it right there now. This song should of been so easy to mix :D

really thanking you guys lending your ears.
