punch-in with Vegas

How so you do a punch-in using Vegas? Using Cool Edit I just select the area of the wave, right click and select "punch-in". I can find no way to do something similar in Vegas. The help does not even mention the term punch-in.

select the event at the point that you wish to punch in. make sure the event is highlighted. hit the "s" key, this will split the event creating a punch in point. do the same for where you want to punch out. next, double click the event that you just created and that you want to record into. this will wrap the loop tool around it. then, grab the blue loop tool by the yellow corners way at the top of the screen to move your post and pre roll. hope this helps.
