Pulling my hair out newbie attack!

Okay. Im trying to get my studiologic (cheapest one they had) midi controller to drive softsynths on my pc through the joystick port on my basic SB Live card. I've got the Asio layer installed. All the physical connections are correct. I know the controller works because I've had it on other synths and it's fine. It's set to channel one by default. All of the settings are proper for everything to work in all of my Windows settings, and stand alone synth, Pro 52 (so far that I can tell). I installed the KX driver which, from what I'm told, will essentially, enable my midi, and my normal line in and outs. come through my SB Live card. When I install the KX drivers, it seems to rename the SB Live with a bunch of stuff that won't work either, seemingly acting like something else is in place of the SB card. Also, when the KX drivers are in, I can't even get normal audio to come from the card. When I get rid of KX and re-install (because KX writes right over the SB drivers) the SB drivers, it goes back to normal, still with no midi.


Im completely baffled. If anyone has any suggestions, I would most sincerely appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
 
Driver conflicts are common, try updated drivers from both the companies, all you need is a midi trigger and I think you dont need to install the kx driver at all. If your midi is properly connected, you can use the SB live card as a very good midi interface. You Studiologic is just a midi trigger (yur sblive is the midi interface), Imagine having a digital piano or drum machine...do you install drivers for them to trigger some softsynth? I dont think so. All you need to do is get the midi signals in your software and trigger the softsynths through it. Dont give up try your best. It shouldn't be that hard.
 
Should I need a driver for the studiologic controller? Because I don't think I got one.
 
You don't need a driver for the controller, just the sound card.

I don't know what a KX driver is but there should be a midi driver on the www.creativelabs.com site that will work.
