Just a thought - maybe for next time.... why not store them as APE files? ZIP'ing audio data files results on 1-2% compression at best -- APE is a lossless compression scheme designed specifically for compressing audio data files.

Works pretty well........ the s/w is at http://www.monkeysaudio.com

but stuffit is lossless as well and works on a MAC. Let's keep stuff cross platform. :)

I manage up to 50% using stuffit

Just wanted to add this quote

Why the StuffIt format?
There are many tools available for compression but only the StuffIt format provides all of these benefits:
Lossless compression of single or multiple files.

and they offer a FREE expander for WINDOWS clients ;)

Good idea BB!

Hey G!!
I've used Maczip 1.6(OS9) and it works ok, kinda funky non-GUI though. Much quicker than Stuffit-plus I don;t get the flow of it:(

you prolly on OSX eh? Jay?

Well... I've got the files... I've never mixed this many tracks before... haha.
xfinsterx - Mind if I use the one from your website as a reference?
This, to me, is definitely more practice than competition.

I agree for the same reasons as above.
Allthough next time.
I will stuff and Zip them individually.

OK Finster, here's a metal mix as promised.
Let me know what you think.

Cons..
General/Overall>>>
what i noticed right off the bat was that there is a glare of upper mids in the mix. sounds like a build up in the 4 to 8 k area.

Individual>>>
The bass sounded good, but not when the kick drum came down.
The kick buried the bass on a hit per hit basis.
Usually the reason ive had that problem in the past is because.
A.) I used 2 similar frequencies to boost 2 different instruments, and it geeked that area of the frequency spectrum.
B.) I simply didnt compress enough.
C.) I suck.

Pros...
General/Overall>>>
Cool panning schemes.
Nifty efx (delay) work.
Kick ass snare sound.
Kick ass Bass drum sound.

Here is the result that i have came up with so far using Adobe Audition, generic sound card and a 3 piece pc speaker set. This is the most bare bone equipment set up to do this, but it is fun. It sounds pretty good through these speakers, but i dont know about others.

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=4102&alid=-1

This doesnt sound half bad considering the pc speaker thing.
Id have an easier time hearing it if you post it at at least 192kbps though.
112 just makes everything really distorted. Or maybe you truncated the mix with no dither??
Whatever the case.
I hope you had fun :)!
Cause thats what it was for! ;)

Stuffit is available for OS X and OS 9 (version 8_ it takes longer but compresses the files better than zip allowing dial up guys to survive a download like this. :)

Don't upload this

So far I've done a mix of the drums and guitars.. and I was hoping for some feedback on it..

please don't upload this as an entry!

track is here

I'm using Kristal audio with an M-Audio quattro into my panasonic hi-fi...

Okay guys...Here is my first, and maybe last mix.
I am a minimalist when it comes to productions...
So It's very simply done... no frills...
Just a bit of EQ, and some Reverb...
And a couple pan jobs...
No where near 10 hours... He-He...
I'm sure it shows.

You can listen here,

http://www.fronder.com/bands/388/music.php

It's just called "Public Mix 3"

And, of course, I'm open to any suggestions...
I've never mixed this kind of stuff before.

Lemme know if there are any problems with the upload too.

It sounds nice my friend.
Only thing i personally wasnt feeling was the panning scheme for the vox in the break. I found it to be a little disconcerting.
But thats a general knitpick..
Nice work Disposable. :D

Now I just gotta figure out what was the "Break"
Just that one line?
