Public Mix Contest #3!!!

Thankyou BB for finishing my statement. LOL That is what i wanted to say and chose the more diplomatic route. LOL

My apologies, Giles. I should have stated "do not put these temporary ones up" on 5 through 11, seeing as how I was more after comments than anything. This one (#12, from yesterday) SHOULD be the last, as I've gotten plenty of comments from friends and a few guys on here. But, as you stated, I'll take a few days off before asking you to put it up. Thanks.

*smacks self with commitment stick*

EDIT: Just noticed you already have 12 up, so I'll bother you no more. Thanks again.

No need to apologize. Not like I put up a rule sheet. LOL Just asking people to be considerate when they do 50 mixes. LOL. I do actually work for a living. LOL

remember Never offended just driven.

giles im sorry i was just wanting some feedback but thats cool ill post my final mix in the next day or so ive only spent about 2 hrs on this so far
btw giles this is only my second revision and my final revision

I'm done this sounds just like all my other metal cds and the comment on the bass should be felt and not heard is only said by those who cant mix the bass in metal. Listen to 80s speedmetal you will hear the fullest and sickest bass you ever heard im sure the tape had a lot to do with it though i miss the days of 2 inch tape recordings

Im pleased with this mix and for me to ever say that is almost imposible

I'd have to agree....... in a real world situation, a mix engineer isn't showing their mix to anyone until they consider it a final..........

I agree. Alot of my mixes ill just throw up all the faders and start from there. But with metal i start with the drums. The drums in metal have to be a certain way that i like them. I might spend 2 days just getting the bass guitar and the drums sounding good together.
Or i might just nail it in 30 minutes. How ever long it may be. I dont ever finish a mix in a day..no way. If you did it in a day, and you think youre done....youre probably not. Remember that next time you go to post, and you know in your head your mix has a bunch of problems.

Well... I have a go... I definitely need the practice...
it'll take a few hours for me to DL though... damn Dial-up.

I'll definitely need some help though, even if it's just for the learning.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Hey Doulos, no need to apologize. Dude. :)

Mix on and Mix well.

Just keeping things tight ;) So I dont get lost in the sauce. last contest we had almost 28 entries and a bunch of revisions, i struggled to make sure i had the most current versions of a persons Entry. Just trying to keep it together :)

Good luck to you disposable. :)

Well, when I left for work this morning it was still going...
And still had a long way to go.

Lost the connection to the server overnight... Damn.

Hope that doesn't happen again today...

Edit:
And I just actually listened to the song... nice...
Reminds me of Shadows Fall.
It should be fun.

Hmm.. thts funny you say that.
Matt from shadows fall/Lifeless records just put us on the "treasury of Sorrows" comp for Lifeless Records. He said he liked us when he saw us with Dying Fetus. Pretty cool i guess...musicly i dont like Shadows fall though.

Good luck with that download too btw.

Cool... Congrats man.

We'll see how the DL goes...
By the way, how many tracks are there???

Look into some download manager software. I went to www.downloads.com and found one that works pretty well. Some of them allow you to pickup where you left off on a broken download. I'm on dial-up too and I lost the connection a few times, but the download manager software was able to continue without starting over. Pretty Handy.

Yeah, Luckily I was using NetPumper, which does allow resume.
I also frequently use FlashGet.

All was not lost,
But i was hoping more of it would have been downloaded overnight.

I think it did disconnect today as well...
I called my house a little while ago and it rang.
Maybe te DL finished in time but I dunno.
Thanks for the tip though.

or try something like mozilla or firefox. They have better download managing features. (at least the mac versions do :)

Hey fin you should have compressed each track individually that way the download is more manageable.

Just a thought - maybe for next time.... why not store them as APE files? ZIP'ing audio data files results on 1-2% compression at best -- APE is a lossless compression scheme designed specifically for compressing audio data files.

Works pretty well........ the s/w is at http://www.monkeysaudio.com
