Thanks for your comments guys! I'll try to fix things next time.

ecktronic:my monitors are genelec 1029 +sub1091 but i am afraid that
the real problem are my ears after 15 years on the stage :D

Oh dont say that. That shit scares me as I play in a heavy rock band every week just about.

Hi eck!

I would advise you to wear earplugs every time when you play on the stage.
It's not very comfortable but this will save your hearing. Also you will feel less tired after the show.Unfortunately I start to wear earplugs quite late after many years of really loud gigs and concerts (it was fun and still is :) ) but now I have constantly screaming sound in my ears.(everything has its cost)
Fortunately recording and mixing is just my favour hobby it is my way to relax and that's why I don't feel bad that I'm not in a perfect shape :D

Take care of your ears guys this things are fragile

Has a deadline been decided on yet? I've given up tinkering with it and settled on a final mix. I have to say that this tune was by far the most challenging of all the mix contests. It seems the more I learn the less I know.

Heya all!

I haven't touched the song for a looong time (like in three weeks or something). Today I was bored and decided to start the mix from scratch - mixing the whole song again :p. Got this after few hours:

Nothing automated or raided here. Only static and somewhat raw mix. I thought this might be the good time to ask some feedback - it is still rather easy to change the mix. Also it was kinda funny to notice how close I came with my previous version, even thou I did it completely from scratch!

So, if you have some time please give it a change :p.

Do we just keep uploading stuff to lightningmp3.com and the last one will count as the final entry or what? I understand we're supposed to note if our entries are work in progress or final, but where do we note that?

Thanks guys. I gotta get back to this tune and may be tackle it in Audition. Which, as I found out, is nothing more than Cool Edit with Adobe's own splash screen.

Well, as a former CoolEdit user from 1.1, I can tell ya that Audition does plenty of stuff CE didn't; primarily it doesn't crash, the code is a LOT tighter, and onboard filter suite is a TON better, performance is way up, too. I thought it was gonna be same ol, same ol, but I'm MUCH happier with Audition... :)

I see your point. I did try using Audition last nite a little bit. For the "fun project" piece that I uploaded that was mixed in Acid, I thought I could try and mix it in Audition. Didn't get very far, but decided to get over the learning curve before making judgements.

Initially, the ugly interface had turned me off. And when I saw that, I thought to myself that I had seen that before. Then it clicked. But I'll give it another try. You're right tho, the 30 band Graphic EQ looks very nice. :D. Too bad I can't use it well. I was thinking of using Audition to make my new entry for the PMC. :)

Bump.

Final entries need to be in by 11/10/05 folks.

-Thanks

By submitting the link to it on this page.
Sonixx will then put it into his compilation page.(i hope)

The secret of that EQ is to start in 10 band mode. Set the total range to 10db so you're only making a max 5db adjustment in either direction. Get it sounding as good as you can with that. Do a lot of before-after testing. Then switch to the 20 band tab, and make finer tweaks. Then swtich to the 30 band, and make even finer tweaks. Then increase the range if needed, so if you're making BIG adjustments, they are in a very focused range. Doing this will also train your ear over time to recognize frequency bands where there are issues...

Incidentally, of the embedded reverbs, I like the "Studio" one best...

That's very interesting. I was thinking that you would probably never use the 10 band panel ever since you're experienced and maybe even 30 band is not enough. I am going to use this method for the next PMC entry that I do. I am going to be tackling the PMC entry soon with Audition. Time to learn a new tool and to mix the song from scratch. :) Thanks very much. :)

My pleasure.. Another tip; if you apply multiband compression, like the Waves C4 or L1 Maxximizer, you've changed the net effective EQ curve and you may need to retweak things just a tad as a last piece of gloss... As always, your mileage may vary.

I put my final mix on Sonixx page a while back so does that meen ive already entered?
