yeah i didnt change much except i took out those random notes in the first verse after the strummed chords and the harmonics in the second verse....and i worked it out to the end......
im gonna keep at it until i get something you like....
keys sound ? I really tried to find some samples on the web but not much luck.... so something hammond b3 ish... something clasic with lesley on slow. Other than that I can't quite put it into words... Your guitar sound is pritty good... I'm sure you have good judgement........Surprise me
hey man, its me again. Just dropping a note to say Its getting there now. I think it sounds much better. Your accenting the walk up on the bridge part allows that part to come through now. I really liked the way it sounded on the acoustic. The only thing I would say is that the guitar sustains out into the verse too long. Once the verse starts the vocals should be the emphasis, but with the guitar holding on that long it takes your attention away from them. Other than that I think it sounds great.
Dres - after I complained about the 'lack of connection' I read 139 more closely and saw the bits that you'd drawn on for your song. What you're doing is legitimate (a spin-off from one or two ideas in another work) but I don't think you should refer to Psalm 139 as a way to bring attention to the song. It's your song. Let it stand or otherwise on its own merits.
Gidge: Hi again... here's those bass notes for the verse. There are 8 lines to the verse, lines 1,3,5,7 are simply A .. the second part is C# D F# E on lines 2,4,8 and C# D D# E on line 6. I hope this makes sense .. music theory was never my forte. I showed my wife your Test 2 last night and she changed my mind about a few things. Actually from Test 1 it would be good to include those extra notes at 0:20 and 0:27 in the first verse... I can always fade the level later if needs be. And apparently SixStringBlues likes the walk up at 1:20 and it's kinda grown on me too so you could leave that in... I think perhaps it's just the levels putting me off. Thanks for putting up with me .... I really think this is it as far as the electric goes. You better get me Test3 before I change my mind ! I'm goin to need to sync up your individual MP3 to my mix too so perhaps just tap along with the first 2 bars of the song... I can edit them out later.
dobro: Point taken brother ! Unfortunately I can't seem to change the Title to the thread. I'll be more careful next time.
SixStringBlues: I agree about the sustains... although I can fade it out in the mix a little. By the way what does CCM mean ?
Test 3 is up......many mangled pieces but the essence is there......ill probably go to test 4 before i record the parts Im gonna send you, so performance issues will be tightened up a bit.....let me know what has to go on test 3, Ill kick it to the cub ........
I know you dont like the sustains but Ill let you deal with that in the mix........
Gidge: Sounds great .... only one very minor complaint. The last 2 or three notes of your little solo (about 2:15)... started well but it degererated. Fix that and your done !
I checked out your nowhereradio site. So you listened to Petra and Stryper too !? surprise surprise shurely you are a child of the eighties like me. Bring back the wigs and on stage explosions
Adelaide Australia really is at the very tail end of any touring act (...farthest places... ) I did see the "This means War" tour all those years ago. We get about 1 major CCM act a year if were lucky
on the harmonies, are you having problems coming up with a part, or having problems singing the part you come up with?....(say that 10 times fast).....
A bit of both. I am having trouble coming up with a part because I usually do a high harmony. This song is already pitched fairly high so I have to go low. I spent a little time trying to work out what fits without much luck. I just have to think outside the square. If nothing else I'll double the vocal.
I thought you only wanted me to try some harmonica on Open Jam Dres?
I'm definatly interested in working on this too,if you'll have me!
What did you want me to try, harmonica only?
Hopefully I have the right key.
If you want me to give it a shot, just let me know what key it's in, and how I should do it,download the mp3 and work on that?
May take me a little bit though,no time,and Mike's first,(after Bethsaida.)
just wanted you to know that i was playing along to this the other night on the keyboards (trying to find the right B3ish sound) and my kid (he's 21 months old) was bashing away on the vdrum kit next to me. whenever the song would end he would stop abruptly and say "do it again". until i started the song over. repeat cycle about four times.
this will be the first memory i have of jamming with my kid.
