I purchased an mbox 2,7.4le. Sorry if I stated that in snother thread). Have been a long time sonar user and feel Im pretty darn good with it. Im simply sick of windows and its issues. Now in messin with my mbox...1) there is an anoying noise that comes out of it,I have read that is normal, its low but still,is there any cure? If you are an mbox user you'll know what I mean. 2) I have a ton of plugins but I have read in thread here that the VST/RTAS wrapper from FxPansion will let me use my vst's and per their site also my uad-1 cards( I have 2), but some of you say its a maybe.Anyone have done it? 3) whats the deal with a fresh instal of 7,4le and the plugin authorizations? Oh my god,do I have to authorize each stinkin one...man. It will take forever. I did not go throught that will sonar! Yeah I know, then go back to sonar...:p
Thanks

When you say noise do u mean coming from the unit itself or coming out of the speakers? If it is coming from the box itself then if you bought it brand new I would try to get it replaced, as for if it is coming from the monitors not sure how to help you with that one.

yes from the monitors.I have read before that this is an mbox issue

Yes it is, and it's not really just an mbox issue even though I experience this with my mbox that i use in my mixing room in my studio, and also on the 002r that we use in the studio, however I do not experience this with the mbox that I use at my home mixing setup. With all of that being said someone has stated to me that it is a ground issue. So if you do find a solution please post and let us know.

Be VERY careful here guys. You've both discussed and then diagnosed a "sonic" problem without either of you being in the same room. Truly a recipe for a diastorous ending.

I've not seen a descriptive enough summary here to venture even the WILDEST of guesses.

The answer to the problem (at this point) could be virtually anything. I certainly wouldn't give up and decide the M-Box has a bug.

I dont believe i diagnosed anything, just offered up a problem. And I never said anything about giving up on the mbox.I just have read other people have heard the same issue

First it wasn't directed at you specifically. Only at the misguided technique used for a support issue. Further it was meant to keep you from going down a foolish road to a solution. That is to say it was dedicated to help.

You can take my advice or leave it. I don't particularly care past profering it and for any future questions you might have I'll be sure to keep my nose out of it.

jh, well you said "you've" that would imply both would it not?

See, this is what I was talking about. I did not diagnose anything, just present a problem......shesss>

I haven't given up on the mbox or my 002r cause both of them were doing the same, for some reason I changed my studio monitors and outlet that I was using at the studio for my 002r and no more noise. And we were just stating a problem no real way of fixing it because I would never give up on my mbox i love it, and I love protools. I can deal with that noise and still get a good mix so I'm fine.

When you arent using the inputs on the mbox, make sure the phantom power is off and I switch the inputs to "Mic" instead of "DI". Hope this helps a little
