There used to be ProTools free available to download, but it's no longer available, I searched everywhere.... Is it anywhere
Is there a Demo version of Protools atleast?

Pro Tools FREE for Mac OS 9 and Windows 98/Me are no longer available for download or on CD.

There are no current plans for a standalone version or a free version of Pro Tools for either Mac OSX or Windows XP.

When Pro Tools FREE for Mac OS9 and Windows 98/Me was released years ago, it was originally meant to be a temporary demonstration tool for Pro Tools. At that time, there were no portable (USB or FireWire) Digidesign interfaces, only Pro Tools systems that used PCI hardware. Since that time, Digidesign has introduced the Mbox, Mbox 2, Digi 002, and Digi 002 Rack interfaces, as well as Pro Tools M-Powered software, which supports many M-Audio portable interfaces.

Only M-Powered offers a demo, but you gotta have one of their interfaces:

That's basicly what I thought..

One more question :

Will Digi's Mbox series interfaces (or any other Digi interfaces) work with non-Protools programs, Like Cubase, Sonar, etc... ?

Most likely yes, but you should check Digi's site for compatibility. Also email the developer of what software you are using and ask them directly.

These ones have been tested with version 7 of the ASIO driver:
# Pro Tools Ignition Pack
# Applied Acoustics Lounge Lizard v2
# Propellerhead Reason
# Live 4
# Cubase SX3
# Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 5
# Steinberg Wavelab 4

and these for version 7 of the Wave driver
# Sonic Foundry CD Architect 7.x
# Sonic Foundry SoundForge 8.x
# Windows MediaPlayer 9
# Quicktime 6.x

and these for Core Audio drive 7.3
# Ableton Live
# Apple GarageBand
# Apple iLife
# Apple Logic
# Apple Quicktime
# Cubase SX3
# RealOne
# Reason
# Roxio Toast with Jam
# Pro Tools Ignition Pack
- Ableton Live Lite
- Celemony Melodyne Essential
- FXpansion BFD Lite
- IK Multimedia AmpliTube LE
- IK Multimedia SampleTank 2 SE
- IK Multimedia T-RackS EQ
- Propellerhead Software Reason Adapted

The Mbox isn't Digi, it's M-Audio. Yeah OK so it all Avid, but the Mbox was never geared soley at Pro Tools.

yeah it was. Don't get confused by the M that's at the front. The original Mbox was Digi's puppy and came around 2002. Avid didn't acquire M-Audio until two years later.
The Mbox was Digi's answer to the portable studio market.

Ah ok. My bad. The 'M' was indeed what threw me.

Heh, I used to use ProTools Free, before I knew better. Although I am now familiar with the interface so I can use it if I have to.
