Good Evening - Here is the scenario:

Imac i7
Apollo Duo
Focusrite Octopre
protool 11

Two simple acoustic guitar tracks........recorded simultaneously. We decide to add a vocal track. Great levels. Playback....the vocals are NOT in sync with the acoustics. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Low latency selected. I cannot understand why. Maybe three total plugin.......nothing earthshattering....

thank you Steve

I don't know too much about protools, but in logic there is a "recording Delay" slider that needs to be periodically adjusted because of interface driver updates.
This changes where the audio is placed in the arrange window.
How I set mine is hold a mic up to my monitors recording a click from software, then adjust recording delay slider to where the click is lined up with grid. I use to run an output into an input on my interface and line it up like that...some software has a plugin you can use for this purpose.
This is just a quick link I found I didn't have time to read through it but could get you on the right search.Pro Tools 11 Recording Timing - Avid Pro Audio Community
The other thing that comes to my mind is delay compensation mode, when I was having playback problems...again I don't know pro tools but I suppose if your using low latency mode, that (preference)delay compensation might be bypassed?IDK... You should get your head wrapped around those two things for protools anyway. That's how I solved my problems
Good Luck

Just a quick rundown on my setup and workflow, doesn't mean it will work for you. But figuring this out for me was tedious to say the least.
1.Compensation set to "all" (I never change this anymore)
2.Periodically check if recording delay slider needs to be adjusted (Note- I always use Direct monitoring for this test)
3.I almost always use Direct monitoring for audio recording, although it does work if I don't(knock on wood)
4.when recording Midi always use low latency mode.
There are other variables at play but hopefully this will help you.
